“That’s pretty much what the schools are like, I think: they reward discipline and obedience, and they punish independence of mind. If you happen to be a little innovative, or maybe you forgot to come to school one day because you were reading a book or something, that’s a tragedy, that’s a crime - because you’re not supposed to think, you’re supposed to obey, and just proceed through the material in whatever way they require.”—Noam Chomsky (via cultureofresistance)
“I would like, stare at my salad, and that was like really the first time I ever really had like flashes of the whole world like falling apart of collapsing. Like, the salad just didn’t make any sense at all, if that makes any sense. Like, ‘what the hell is happening, why is there like, little pieces of plants on a plate? Like, what is going on?’ and it’s like these little moments when like nothing makes any sense at all.”—Andrew Vanwyngarden (via icouldgiveafuckless)
“You think the only people who are people are the people who look and think like you. But if you walk the footsteps of a stranger you’ll learn things you never knew you never knew.”—Vanessa Williams, Colors of the Wind (via quietloyalty)
Sorry to hear about allstate. Glad exciting stuff is happening!
It’s all good…the audition went as it usually does with second round. But life goes on. Today my mom started talking to me about remedies for depression, which really opened my eyes because I hadn’t realized I still came off as depressed. So I’m working on that, and on looking for goodness in everyday experiences. That’s where that post came from!
